James E. Durfee

DURFEE James E. James E. Durfee tragically left us on Sunday, July 12, 2009 from an accidental drowning at Burt Lake, Brutus, Michigan. Jim was born December 12, 1963 in Toledo to Benjamin B. and Elizabeth H. Durfee. Jim was a 1982 graduate of Ottawa Hills High School and received his bachelors degree from the University of Toledo. Jim successfully ran several residential construction businesses, most recently Toledo Trench and Excavating, and played an integral part in Toledos Extreme Home Makeover. Jims passions in life were his family and tennis. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and Laurel Hill Tennis Club. Jim was a gentle, loyal, caring husband, father, brother and friend. Preceded in death by his father, he is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Moran Durfee; children, Nicholas and Caroline; mother, Elizabeth Durfee, brothers, Ben H. Kathy, William, and Tom Sarah Durfee; sisters, Janet Durfee and Louise Aaron Stubbs; cousin, Charles H. Cheryl Puleston; nieces and nephews, Colleen and Claire Durfee, and Foster and Betsy Stubbs; and many friends. Visitation will be Thursday from 3-7:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. with a memorial service at 11:00am on Friday at Hope Lutheran Church, 2201 Secor Rd. Toledo, OH 43606. Interment will be private. The family suggests memorials to Hope Lutheran Church, or the Bierney Tennis Foundation, c/o Pat Bierney at Laurel Hill Tennis Club, 2222 Cass Rd.
