James V. DeLuca, 85, of Oak Harbor, died at his residence Tuesday, January 30, 2018. James was born February 15, 1932, in Crabtree, PA, to Caesar and Ercillia (Pillie) DeLuca. On November 26, 1955, in Port Clinton, OH, he married Mary Ann Elias and she preceded him in death July 15, 2016. James was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War from 1952-54. After his discharge from the Army, he worked at the Erie Army Depot and was previously active in the former American Legion in Port Clinton. James worked at H.B. Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton as a purchasing agent, retiring in 1991. After retirement he worked at the Community Markets in Oak Harbor and Port Clinton and Walmart in Port Clinton. He also volunteered for the Salvation Army. James was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Toledo Walleye. He loved to cook and listen to music and loved to ride rollercoasters. James is survived by his daughter, Toni DeLuca (James Spike Wightman), sons, Charles (Beth) DeLuca, Vincent DeLuca (Tracy Skoufos) and Phillip DeLuca (Tina Perry); twelve grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Ralph DeLuca, sisters, Mary Kerul and Antonette Spinielli. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, with visitation two hours prior from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. A military graveside service will take place in Rusha Cemetery, Oak Harbor. The family has requested that memorials for James be directed to the Salvation Army, 1834 E. Perry St., Port Clinton, OH 43452.
