James D. Davis, age 71, of Sylvania, passed away quietly with family by his side on Sunday, July 31, 2016. Jim was born Feb. 25, 1945 in Toledo and served in the National Guard following high school. He retired after many years as a finish carpenter in the home building industry. Jim was recently employed in dietary as a baker at UTMC where he became known for his cinnamon rolls. In his free time, he loved to golf, fish and play all types of card games with his family and friends. He was a member of the Sylvania Moose and Bedford Hills Golf Club. A gentle soul, Jim will be remembered for his friendly, out-going personality, great sense of humor and as a good husband and proud father. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue (Sass) Davis; mother, Phyllis (Fraley) Davis; children, Ryan Davis, Roxanne Richardson, Mary Kay Lee and Rachael Prang; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, Connie Renner and Rosemary Fortner. His father, William Davis, preceded Jim in death. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe St., Toledo, with interment to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
