James R Burk

James R. Burk, age 81, of Maumee, OH passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 22, 1927 in Bucyrus, OH to Cleo and Lucille Corwin Burk. Jim served in the US Navy in WWII and Korean Conflict. He was employed as a Manager of Production Control at Chrysler Jeep Corporation. Jim was a former member of Maumee United Methodist Church where he taught 5th grade Sunday School and current member of Grace United Methodist in Perrysburg where he was active with many programs. He was active in the Jeep golf and bowling leagues and the Mahan Pool League. Jim was a member of the Maumee Senior Center and enjoyed riding his bicycle around town meeting and greeting many people. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Thelma Campbell Burk whom he married August 19, 1950; daughters, Sherry Bob DiBella, Jeanne John Rife, Kathy Barry Conlan and Laura Joe Renn; son, James Amy Burk; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Bob Mabel Burk and Chuck Betty Burk. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie Lu Burk. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace United Methodist Church, Perrysburg with Rev. Dennis Ditto officiating. Jims family would like to thank their many friends, neighbors and members of the community for their loving support and friendship during this difficult time.
