James A. Breier, 84, of Elmore, died Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born August 17, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, to Roy F. and Augusta S. (Lenz) Breier. James served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55; and upon returning from the Army, he and Betty I. Brown were married in Evansport, Ohio. James worked for Ohio Bell as an installer for 30 years retiring in 1982. He then worked at Lakewood Greenhouse in Northwood for 20 years. James was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Elmore since 1963. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening his entire life. In addition to his wife, Betty, James is survived by his daughters, Karol (James) Smercina of Elmore and Cathy Lajti of Oak Harbor, son Randal Breier of Defiance, grandchildren, Clifton Lajti, Drew Smercina, Adam Smercina, Cora Lajti, Cayden Breier, Lucy Breier and Olivia Breier, as well as his brother, John Breier of Archbold. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, LeRoy and Richard Breier, sister, Juanita Meyer, grandson, Jacob Lajti, and son-in-law, David Lajti. Visitation for James will be 4-8 p.m., Monday, September 18, 2017, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church, 19255 W. Witty Rd., Elmore, OH 43416; burial will follow in Elliston Cemetery, Graytown.
