James N. Bilkovsky, 87, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed February 23, 2022. James was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 14, 1934 to Norman and Hilda Bilkovsky. He married Shirley Fisher of Genoa, Ohio and they have been married 63 years. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, nephews Lawrence Wagner of Maumee, David Wagner of Bradford of Avon, United Kingdom, Peter Wagner of Cambridge, Massachusetts, William Wagner of Media, Pennsylvania and niece, Kim Caris of Toledo, Ohio.
He retired from Toledo Edison after 38 years. After a brief time, he then went to work for Detroit Edison as a contractor for 6 years, Hancock-Wood Electric for 2 years. Finally retiring he rekindled interest in wood-working also helped set up the Woodcraft store in Toledo where he worked and taught for a few years.
Jim served in the Army for 6 years as Staff Sergeant (Sgt. Bilko). He was President of The Illuminating Engineering Society, Electro Club of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg Chamber of Commerce, and he was on the Board of Directors of Perrysburg Kiwanis.
Jim had a deep interest in boating which led to being Commodore and Secretary of Indian Hill Boat Club in Maumee. He also was a member of The Blue Gavel and President of Toledo A Float (Willis B. Boyer Freighter).
Friends and family will be received Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where a celebration of James’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Clay Township Cemetery.
