James Harold Bender

James Harold Bender, 92, formerly of Maumee, OH passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Grand Rapids Care Center. He was born in Maumee, OH on January 12, 1920 to John and Martha Hufford Bender. Jim married Jean Alice Bacom and enjoyed 56 years together. Jim was a manager for the Toledo Gardeners Co-Op where he was employed for more than 40 years. He was an active man who enjoyed fishing, golf and bowling, but found pleasure in a good game of cards or shooting pool. His family and grandchildren always brought a smile to his face and his sense of humor never waned. Jim is survived by his sons, Thomas Darlene and John Dawn; daughters, Pamela John Schreiber and Cynthia Whitaker, sister, Dorothy Berry; many nieces and nephews; 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; and brothers, Howard and Tom. Friends and family may call at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee, OH on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 2 pm - 4pm. A memorial service will be held at 4pm at the funeral home.
