James H. Batch

James Jim Batch age 78 of Maumee, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Jim was born February 22, 1939 in Toledo, OH to Harold and Ruth (Inks) Batch. He attended Toledo Public Schools and graduated in 1958 from Libbey High School. Jim served in the Ohio National Guard and the U.S Naval Reserves and was a Taystee Bread driver for 30 years, retiring in 1993. After his retirement and before his illness, Jim enjoyed traveling and spending time at his condo in Ft. Myers, FL. He will be fondly remembered as a man who enjoyed having a good time with family and friends. Jim was a member of the Teamsters Local Union #365 for 25 years, serving as a trustee and vice president. He was a lifetime member of Barton Smith Masonic Lodge #613. In addition, Jim was a member of the Knights Templar, Toledo Commandery #7, Grand Council Royal Select Masons of Ohio, Toledo Council #33; Chapter of Royal Arch Masons and Fort Miami-Calumet #191. Jim also belonged to Rossford Eagles, Sylvania Moose and American Legion Post #320. Jim was a dedicated member of the Maumee-BG Elks Lodge #1850 and received the 1996-1997 Elk of the Year award. He was also a retired member of Turtle Pond #3. Jim is survived by his wife, Brenda (Garnsey); daughter, Kathi (Tom) Lyke; son, Christopher (Ann) Batch; step grandchildren, Danielle and Andrew Hayes and sister in-law, Gaydelle Hornyak. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Braun. Jim and his family would like to thank the many friends and family who stopped by to say hi and delivered goodies. It was a great comfort to be reached out to by so many. A special thanks to Dr. Fadi Safi and special nurse, Lisa Massey for the specialized care given to Jim. The family would also like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio . Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, OH on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 3-8 PM with an Elks service at 7:00 PM. Private burial will take place at Lake Township Cemetery. Please join the family for a luncheon to celebrate Jims life on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 1:30 PM at the Maumee-BG Elks, 139 W.
