It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline (Jackie) Powell. She entered the Loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 25, 2021. She was born on March 12, 1927 to Homer Hees and Minnie (Hull) Hees in Toledo, Ohio. Both have preceded her in death along with her sister Lillian Hamman and Homer Hees Jr. Jackie spent most of her young life in Toledo attending Libbey High School and graduating from Defiance High School. After graduation she returned to Toledo, where she met the love of her life Norman (Jack) Powell They spent 50 wonderful years together until his passing in 1997. After her children were well on their way in school, she started working at Montgomery Ward at the Golden Gate shipping center. When they moved to Southwyck mall she continued there until her retirement. Jackie’s greatest jobs in her life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It can be said that her next love was the water, boating, swimming, water skiing or anything associated with water. Playing the piano was also a pleasure and peace in life’s up and downs. She was a Cub Scout leader, and she also ran the concession stand at the Maumee Little League field while her boys played ball there. She sewed and crocheted, making many blankets for her family. She could always be found at one of her grandchildren’s sporting events or a dance recital. She loved a good ballgame especially the Detroit Tigers and was a fan of The Ohio State. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Duane (Barb) Powell, Lynda (Ed) Babiak and Marty (Julie) Powell; grandchildren, Lawrence Powell, Josh Powell, Curtis Bender, Christopher Bender, Cody (Abby) Powell and Ellyse (Rene) Losoya; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Marley, Jackson, and Rowen. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a donation to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Alzheimer’s Association. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to, Parkcliffe Memory Care Facility, Building #7 and Hospice for the wonderful care our Mother received through this difficult time.
