Jacqueline A. Malek, 83, of Sylvania, died December 25, 2021, at her home. She was born April 11, 1938, in Chicago, IL to the late William and Lillian (Rosko) McCorkle. Jackie married Joseph R. Malek, Sr. in 1957 in Chicago and he preceded her in death on August 14, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William McCorkle. A graduate of Wells High School in Chicago, Jackie worked in pediatrics for many years including 23 years at The Pediatric Center in Toledo before retirement in 2003. She was an avid reader and fan of all Chicago sports. Jackie also enjoyed small stakes visits to the casino with friends and “sale shopping”. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren. Jackie was a devoted, fair-minded wife, mother, and grandmother and will be lovingly remembered for her caring, selfless nature. Surviving are her sons, Joe Jr. (Jenny), Jeff and Jerry (Amy) Malek; grandchildren, Ben, Nathan, and Macey; and special family friend, Bill Swanson. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Jackie's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 31, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main St., Sylvania. Interment will be private. Memorials are suggested to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society- Student of the Year (LLS-SOY).
