Jacqueline Anderson Barker, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed into the great majority on July 11, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio- Perrysburg. She was 83. Jackie was born on May 17, 1929 in Ishpeming, Michigan to Carl W. Anderson and Rose Kropp Anderson. Her parents preceded her in death, as did her sister Helene, her brothers, Carl, Bob, Jack, and Jerry, and her husband, William J. Barker. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Tom Poddany and Robin Bill Gernheuser; grandchildren, Chris Poddany, Heidi Kory, Kim Paul King, Leah Matt Ritter, and Hayley Gernheuser; great-grandchildren, Colton and Cayden Poddany, Paige and Bradley King, and Derk Kory; sister, Alice Veith; brothers-in-law, Tom Cristi Gruppi and Dick Gruppi, and sisters-in-law, Bea Anderson and Pat Anderson. Jackie was born in Michigan and moved to Toledo when she was 14. Living most of her life in Toledo, she stayed loyal to Michigan. She graduated from Scott High School in 1947. After high school, she met and fell in love with Bill Barker, and the two were married on July 1, 1950. Jackie was a member of the Scandinavian Club, and took much pride in her Swedish heritage. She enjoyed antiques, puzzles, watching tennis and golf, and playing bingo with her many friends at LVWC. Most of all, she found joy in spending time with her family. Jackie lived her life with a quick wit, wry smile, and undeniable sweetness. She played straight man to her husbands comedic personality. She will be missed tremendously. The family would like to thank Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek, St. Lukes Hospital ICC nurses, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio - Perrysburg for its kind care in Jackies final days. Memorials may take the form of contributions to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. A private burial took place on the afternoon of Friday, July 13, 2012, at Toledo Memorial Park. Thank you Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek, 2001 Perrysburg-Holland Road, Holland, Ohio in the chapel on July 23 at 6:30 p.m.
