Jackson James Weis, age 9, died July 25, 2020 from injuries sustained in a tragic automobile accident. He was born September 5, 2010 in Toledo and from an early age demonstrated that he was special. Jackson never had a bad day, was always fun to be around and brought joy to a room with his cheerful presence. He was going into the fourth grade at Stranahan Elementary where he regularly earned the PAWS Award for being Positive, Accountable, Well-Managed and Self Controlled. He was very bright and excelled at mathematics. Jackson loved sports and was just starting to play football. He also played travel soccer with the 2010 Red Team through Pacesetter in Sylvania, but hockey was his greatest love. Jackson started playing organized at the age of 3 and skated with numerous teams. Most recently, he was on the Sylvania North Stars, playing with the same group of beloved teammates for the past 5 years. Jackson was a forward, had a high "Hockey IQ" and was extremely competitive. He was a huge fan of the Detroit Red Wings. Jackson will also be lovingly remembered for his welcoming smile and the warm kindness he offered to everyone he met. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Jeffery and Jessica Weis; siblings, Cody William, Taylor Lynn, Cooper Jeffery and Carter Michael Weis; grandparents, Karen "Gigi" (Jim) Savage, Randy (Helen) McClure, Judy (Danny) Smith and Mike (Susan) Weis; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jackson’s private funeral service can be viewed at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2020 by clicking on the “Live Webcast” link on the Tribute Wall of his page at walkerfuneralhomes.com. The Rev. Tom Fraser, Team Chaplain for the Detroit Red Wings, will preside. All are invited to Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, at approximately 12:00 p.m. Saturday to greet the funeral procession for committal services. Please wear your hockey sweater and bring a stick. The family is also planning a public celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jackson's memory are suggested to the Jackson Weis Youth Athletic Achievement Fund in care of Waterford Bank, 3900 N. McCord Rd., Toledo, OH 43617.
