Jack P. Pinson, Jr., 88, of Oak Harbor, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, in Toledo Hospital. He was born March 17, 1921, in Kenova, WV, to Jack and Edna Kahlert Pinson. On December 4, 1943, in Coleman, TX, he married Thelma Bensch, who survives. Jack worked for Formetal, Inc. in Oak Harbor and was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran, Oak Harbor. He was a retired Lt. Col. In the Air Force Reserve and served as a pilot in WW II. Jack was a member and Adjutant of the American Legion Post #114 in Oak Harbor, an avid reader, amateur photographer and sports fan. Survivors include his wife, Thelma, daughters, Judy Steven Sondheim Pinson of Memphis, TN, and Jackie Tanthorey of Oxford, NC, grandchildren, Leah Sondheim, Carley Tanthorey and Lucas Tanthorey, brother, Ray Tobe Marlene Pinson of Rutherfordton, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jay Pinson, and brothers, William and Lee Pinson. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2010, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery with military graveside service by the American Legion of Oak Harbor. The family suggests memorials to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor, or donors choice.
