Perrysburg native Jack Hoste, age 72, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Jack was born in Perrysburg to Anthony and Nadine Hoste on March 3, 1950. Jack was a graduate of Perrysburg High School class of 1969, where he was a proud member of the Yellowjackets football team scoring the first touchdown in the new football stadium in 1968. Jack lived a life of service to the city he loved. He spent many years as a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT with the Perrysburg Fire Department. He retired from Perrysburg High School, where he worked as a custodian for many years.
Jack was a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers as evidenced by the tattoo on his arm. He was also an avid fan of Detroit Tigers baseball and Ohio State Football.
He loved sharing his knowledge of handy work and enjoyed spending time woodworking, fishing, and golfing. Later in life, Jack enjoyed the simple things in life with many new friends at Simmons Crossing Senior Apartments. He made friends wherever he went, unapologetically sharing jokes, stories, and conversations with anyone willing to share with him.
He was a dedicated and loving father, grandfather, brother, and a loyal friend. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Vernon. He is survived by his daughter Leah, son Brandon (Shannon) and grandsons Owen, Caden, and Declan. He is also survived by brothers Donald, Richard (Sandra), Kenneth (Debra), and Terry sisters Sheryl, Nadine (Wade), Nannette (Mark) and Karen. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews who fondly remember summers by his pool, his endless jokes, and his absolute refusal to be caught smiling on camera. Jack was truly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
