Jack Joseph Barrett age 82 of Toledo passed away Sunday November 14, 2010 in the Darlington House. He was born February 2, 1928 in Toledo to W. Tyler and Louise LaFrance Barrett. He attended Garfield Grade School, graduated from Waite High School in 1946 and attended the University of Toledo majoring in Pre-Law. A veteran of the Army Air Force, Jack was a Sergeant and served as a weather observer meteorologist. He received the Army Occupation Medal Japan. Jack worked at the family business, Barrett Shoe Store on Main Street in Toledo until it burned down in 1976. He then held various sales positions throughout his career and retired from Davis Besse. Jack was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2510, and was a Detroit Red Wing, Cleveland Brown, Ohio State Buckeye and Indy Racing fan. He also coached youth hockey in Toledo. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Andy Rowley and brothers-in-law John Stonecypher and Robert Breisacher. Surviving are his children Jeff, Bob Michelle and Chris Brenda Barrett; daughters Paige Russ Batey Barrett and Michelle Larson; grandchildren Robert Barrett, Jr., Brittany, Brian, Mary, Mike, Tyler and Logan Barrett, Brittany Dustin Hendrix, Kristin, Erika, and Jeanette Larson; great-grandchildren Hayden Hendrix and Jordan Barrett; sister Sally Stonecypher; former wife Sallie Barrett; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey on Wednesday from 4-8 PM where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM. VFW Post 2510 will conduct services Wednesday at 7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Darlington Nursing and Rehab, Shipero Alzheimer
