Irving Lincoln Birr

November 26, 1926 — February 28, 2009

Irving Lincoln Birr, age 82, passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at his residence. The son of William and Elsie Birr, he was born Nov. 26, 1926 in Toledo. Irv attended Woodward High School. He left high school early to join the U.S. Marine Corp. during WWII. After being honorably discharged he returned to Toledo and finished his high school education. He worked for Ameritech for 36 years retiring in 1983. Irv was member of Blessed Sacrament Church and a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Toledo Telephone Pioneers, Old News Boys, Eagles #197, American Legion, and past president of the Second Marine Division Association. He is survived by his children, Gregg A. Birr, Bonnie J. Draheim, Keith I. Birr, Marlene Birr; grandchildren, Trevor Birr, Leigh-Ann Draheim, Shawn Draheim; great grandchild, Levi Draheim Russo; brother, William D. Birr; sister, Mary E. Marsh. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ed and Bob Birr and sister, Lona Sobecki. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 2-9 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd where services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Second Marine Division Association.
