Irene S. Jordan, age 101, of Toledo, OH passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. She was the widow of the late William L. Jordan and went home to meet him and her Lord and Savior. Irene was born in Marion, Alabama on March 10, 1920 to Sam and Mamie Edward Smith. She was educated in rural Selma, Alabama before coming to Toledo in 1946. She was employed at LaSalle and Koch as an elevator operator and later promoted to the coat department and sportswear as a salesclerk. She retired after 32 years of service. She was proud to be a past president of the Lasko Club at LaSalle’s. She volunteered at St. Anne’s Church, currently known as St. Martin de Porres, visiting the sick and administering communion to them. She was also an honorary member of the Altar Rosary Society. She absolutely loved children, and after retiring, provided love and care to many children at her house over the years. She will always be remembered for her kindness, love for others, and the ability to feed anyone at any time. Her family was the light of her life. She is survived by her son Bradwin (Denise) Jordan, grandchildren Brad (Lisa) Jordan, Jason (Lindsay) Jordan, Heather (Josh) Stachowiak, Josh (Sara) Jordan, Sarah (Szymon) Glodzik, John (Vickie) Williams and adopted grandchild Starr Keyes. She loved on and is survived by her Great-Grandchildren Christapher, DeLaney, Kyle, Nash, Kadence, Julian, Landon, Lyla, Julia, Zack, Ben, Kennedy, and Wesley. Her love for people shined through and the list of those who loved her is long. She had many special friends including Lois Tucker, for over 60 years, Jan and Lynn Launder, and her neighbors at The Lakewoods. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Irene’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 1119 Bancroft St., Toledo. Interment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. While our hearts here on earth are grieving, our hope and joy come knowing she is in heaven and whole again. We would like to give special thanks to the staff at Ohio Living Swan Creek for the care they provided over the last few months. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to St. Martin de Porres Parish Church or The Ronald McDonald House.
