Irene P. Dewitz, 87, of Oak Harbor, died Friday, January 11, 2008, in Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. Irene was born November 6, 1920, in Toledo, Ohio, to Charles W. and Edith Hoedt Ravas. On June 8, 1939, in Oak Harbor she married Edgar C. Dewitz, who died October 19, 1999. Irene was a homemaker and a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor, where she belonged to the Dorcas Circle. She was a charter member of the Mothers of Twins in Port Clinton for over 50 years, a member of the Locust Point Grange 1292, the Country Culture Club in Oak Harbor, and a member of the Oak Harbor American Legion Auxiliary. Irenes many interests included gardening, cooking, and canning. She is survived by her children, Joan Ralph Layman, Jeannette Joseph Hanthorn, Dennis Karen Dewitz, Charlene Frank Patz, Sharon Donald Brown, Ruth Fraizer, Rita Fred Leach, and Ann Donnie Bixler; 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn Leaser. Her parents, husband, sister, Ruth Dornbush, and 4 grandchildren preceded her in death. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2008, in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, with visitation from 10:00am until the time of the service. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2008, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Oak Harbor.
