Ines L. Salazar, 83, of Oak Harbor, died in the morning of Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. Ines was born April 20, 1934, in Hidalgo, Coahuila, Mexico, to Nicolas A. and Florinda (Longoria) Salazar. He and his wife, Elvira (Uvalle) Salazar were married in Delano, California; and she preceded him in death October 7, 2006, after more than 53 years together. Ines worked in the saw mills for many years and never missed one day of work. He volunteered as a senior companion for the developmentally disabled also served as a foster grandparent. He loved working in his yard and thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the porch. He is survived by his daughter, Angelica Tijerina; grandchildren, Antonette Tijerina, Carlos Corona, Michael Velasquez and Robert Velasquez; great grandchildren, Vanessa Ruiz, Alyssa Jade, Clarissa Corona, Caylee Corona, Michelle Velasquez, Selena Velasquez, Bella Velasquez, Dominic Heredia, Damian Heredia and Sebastian Velasquez; and siblings, Paula Castellanos, Teodora Cavazos, Hilario Salazar and Eduardo Salazar. Ines was preceded in death by his parents and wife and siblings, Marcela Vega, Guadalupe Guerra, Manuel Rios and Nicolas Salazar, Jr. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2017, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with interment to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
