Ian C. McKinley, 69, of Port Clinton, Ohio, and formerly of Oregon, Ohio, died Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Regency Hospital, Sylvania, Ohio. Ian was born in San Francisco, CA, on December 15, 1947, to Clifford A. and Myrtle E. (Thompson) McKinley, Jr. He was raised in Jackson, MN, and later moved to Ohio. Ian was an electrical engineer for the Marathon Oil Company in Findlay, Ohio, for 18 years. As a resident of Northwood Ohio in the late 1970s, he served on the Northwood Volunteer Fire Dept. and later on the EMS and Fire Department for the City of Oregon, Ohio, for five years. Ian was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Curtice, Ohio. He loved to sing and was a member of the Choraliers of Oregon, Ohio, for many years. He and his wife, Karen, loved to travel and had visited 49 of the 50 states. They also shared a love for camping and attending their grandchildrens sporting events. Survivors include his wife Karen, who he married in St. Lukes Lutheran Church on June 11, 2005, sister, Jan Cunningham, brother, Gordon (Anita) McKinley, two sons from a previous marriage, step children and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara L. McKinley. A memorial service for Ian will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Lukes Lutheran Church, 20 S. Yondota Rd., Curtice, OH 43412. Immediately following the service everyone is invited to remain at the church for a meal and fellowship. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the church, the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio, 3100 W. Central Ave.#150, Toledo, OH 43606; the American Heart Assoc., 4331 Keystone Dr. Suite D, Maumee, OH 43537; or the donors choice. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa, Ohio, is assisting the family with arrangements.
