Hubert E. Dr. Appert

DR. HUBERT ERNEST APPERT PhD. Dr. Hubert Ernest Appert PhD. of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully, in his 86th year Monday, February 8, 2016 at his home. He was a native of Pennsylvania; born on June 1, 1930 to Ernest and Bertha (Kaelin) Appert in Hawley, Pennsylvania. He was a mentor, teacher, writer, distinguished colleague, and proficient researcher. Hubert graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Pennsylvania and earned his PhD in Physiology. He was married to Ann Marie Howard on September 3, 1960 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Before moving to the Toledo area, Hubert worked at the Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia. He then worked for 30 years at the Medical College of Ohio, now known as the University Of Toledo Medical Center, before retiring. Hubert enjoyed fishing, walking, spending time outdoors and he spent over 20 years visiting his favorite vacation spot California by the ocean. He was also an active member of Little Flower Catholic Church. He and his wife loved spending time with their children, and visiting those farther away in California. Hubert was a part of the Toledo Mobile Radio Association and part of the Amateur Radio Club. He also spent time collecting stamps. Hubert is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ann Marie Appert; children, Robert (Lisa Chen) Appert, Sister Donna Marie Appert SND, Deborah Appert, Marie Appert; brother, John (Kathy) Appert; many nieces and nephews; and faithful Chihuahua, Copper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Bertha; parents-in-law, Wilson and Marie Howard; and brother-in-law, Thomas Howard. Prayers will be recited at 10:15 A.M. on Monday, February 15, 2016 in the Neville Funeral Home, Reynolds Corner Chapel, 5052 Dorr Street, Toledo, OH 43615 (419-535-0951). A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. at Little Flower Catholic Church, 5562 Dorr Street, Toledo, OH 43615 (419-537-6655). Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Hubert’s name may be made to the donor’s choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Neville Funeral Home, Reynolds Corner Chapel.
