Howell Lloyd Poucher, Sr., 89, of Toledo, passed away on Friday, May 8,2026 at Swan Creek. He was born in Toledo to Herbert and Hazel Poucher on June 19, 1936.
A proud graduate of Devilbiss High School, Class of 1954, Howell went on to build a long and dedicated career as a surveyor with the Proudfoot Company. His work reflected the same precision and steadiness that marked his life. On July 30, 1961, Howell married the love of his life, Averala Ann Paxton, who preceded him in death on October 7, 2025.
Howell is survived by his son, Howell L. Poucher Jr., as well as nieces and nephews, Cas Koralewski, Tom (Christine) Kaminski, Sue (Keith) Rohr , Mark (Sandy) Schmidlin, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews who cherished him, including Amanda Koralewski who assisted in many ways with Howell's care. He was preceded in death by his his beloved daughter, Averala Marcine "Marcy" Poucher, who passed on May 20, 1990; parents; four sisters-Zola (Glen) Bracey, Geradine Poucher, Earladine (Edward) Kaminski, and Donna (Frank) Schmidlin; his special niece, Janice Koralewski; nephew, Curtis Bracey.
Some of Howell's happiest memories were made at the family cottage on Marble Lake, where he enjoyed fishing, skiing, and the simple joy of time spent outdoors. He was a longtime member of the Masons and had previously served as Master, a role he carried with pride and integrity.
A lifelong aircraft enthusiast, Howell traveled often to Reno, Nevada, to attend air shows, and he held a special fondness for trips to Hawaii, where he found both adventure and peace.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 14, 2026, beginning at 10 am at Swan Creek Ohio Living Chapel, 5916 Cresthaven Lane, until the time of Funeral Service at 11 am. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Cemetery.
