Howard Nelson Bevens

Howard Nelson Bevens, age 78, of Maumee, OH passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012. He was born October 25, 1933, in Toledo, OH to Lewis and Viola Morningstar Bevens. He married Katherine Aldridge on September 26, 1953 and enjoyed 55 years together. Howard worked for Allied Chemical/Plaskon for 35 years . He was an avid golfer and bowler who also enjoyed rooting on the Detroit Tigers. Howard was a proud member of the Maumee Citizens Patrol and was very active in at Keyser Elementary School; having been a founder of the PTA, Keyser Olympics and the Booster Club. He also enjoyed coaching baseball for three of his sons. Howard was Past Master in the Calumet Masonic Lodge #612, member of Northern Light Lodge, O-ton-ta-la Grotto and the Maumee Elks. He was a 1951 graduate of Maumee High School and met regularly with other Maumee Alumni for breakfast. Howard is survived by his daughter, Susan Larry Kosakowski; sons, William Mary Anne Bevens and James Bevens; Grandchildren, Kelly Rob Majchszak, Kristi Grant Gatchel, Paul Michelle Bevens, Sarah Kosakowski, Michelle Dudley Singer, Jennifer John Bradshaw, Scott Kosakowski and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother, Tom Virginia Bevens and lifelong friend, John Dellinger. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Katherine; and sons Butch and Howard Skip Jr. Bevens. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 2pm-8pm at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH with Masonic Rites at 7pm. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 10:30am.
