Hope Maria Martin, 31 of Toledo, OH, passed away on May 18, 2026, at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, OH, with her family by her side. She was born on August 27, 1994, in Toledo, OH, to Maria Christine (Pettee) and Brent Douglas Martin.
Hope is survived by her siblings: Brent Anthony Martin, Grace Maria Martin, Grant Philip Martin and Faith Maria Martin. Her paternal aunts and uncles: Mary (Larry) Albrecht, Sherry (Ray) O'Dell, Diane (Ray "Moose") Trautman, Deby (Phil) Buerk, Gary (Ann) Martin, Janelle Martin, Kevin (Mary) Martin, Keith (Barb) Martin, and Denise Martin; her maternal aunts and uncles: Karin M. (Hassel) Pettee, Jeannine (Lavoy) Pettee, Michael R. and Vicki (Delahoussaye) Pettee, Stephen and Mary Jane (Emmenecker), John L,(Holie) Pettee, Joseph L. and Mary (Gdowik), and Laura A. (Pettee) and Stanley J. Garrett. Hope is survived by many cousins.
Hope was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Mary E. "Mimmy" (Voss) Martin and Donald J. ("Pippy") Martin Sr., and her maternal grandparents, Dorothy V. (Ashford) Pettee and Francis W. Pettee, her maternal aunts and uncles: Donald J. Martin Jr., and Jeff Martin and paternal uncles; Denis A. Pettee, Sr. and David W. Pettee, Sr., Pamela (Miller) Pettee and cousin David W. Pettee, Jr.
Hope loved Big Macs and Reuben sandwiches. She loved watching her favorite movies The Wizard of Oz and Titanic and the British comedy Keeping Up Appearances, and knew all the words by heart. She had a beautiful smile for all who came to visit her. She cherished any gifts and would take several of them with her in her bags when she moved through the household. Hope had a keen sense of when someone needed an extra hug and those hugs were poignant. Hope was devoted to her parents and siblings and was very loving.
Hope loved music and enjoyed listening to her favorite singers Johnny Cash and Karen Carpenter. She also loved to sing and dance. Hope was a pure soul who loved all of her family members unconditionally. She was the glue in the middle of her family that held her family together.
Hope loved spending her summers with her family at Devil's Lake, always walking up and down the shore while kicking the water, jumping off the raft and swimming so much you couldn't get her out of the water. She also loved watching the diamonds on the water with her Mimmy and now we know she has real diamonds in heaven.
The funeral gathering starts at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. which will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Gesu Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd, Toledo, OH. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 2224 Dorr Street, Toledo, OH.
