Homer T. Martin, age 89, passed away June 13, 2015 at the Elizabeth Scott Care Center in Maumee. Homer was born March 2, 1926 in Clearwater, FL to Theodore O. and Lena F. Martin. He was a graduate of Clearwater High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving aboard the U.S.S. Leland E. Thomas. Homer was a printer at the Toledo Blade for many years. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was a scout master with the Boy Scouts, Troop 183. Homer was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, bird watching and golfing. He hobbies included collecting stamps, coins and playing bridge. Homer is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughter, Susan Galow; son, Kenneth Martin; grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) Monahan and Sarah (Sean) Sentle; and great-grandchildren, Mason and Ty Monahan, and Conner Sentle. He was preceded in death by wife, Ireda; brother, Glenn Martin; and sisters, Dorothy Martin and Frances Boyles. The family wishes to thank hospice nurses, Lana and Patty, for the excellent care they gave to Homer. Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 4-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where services will be held on Friday at 10:00am.
