Hollace “Holly” Joan Schmidbauer, age 74 of Maumee passed away Friday, September 2, 2022 in her home. She was born January 7, 1948 in Toledo to Dale and Joan (Brown) Richard. She earned her Educational Doctorate degree and spent 32 years in teaching and school administration for Blessed Sacrament, Maumee, Bowling Green and Rossford Schools. She was a dyed-in-the-wool educator that always stressed the importance of education. Holly was a dedicated professional and worked very hard for 32 years. She was a member of the Anthony Wayne Alumni Association serving as trustee and past vice president and worked on the program for the hall of fame. Holly was a volunteer reading tutor at Eagle Point and Glenwood Schools in Rossford. An active member of St. Joseph Church in Maumee, she was involved in the Christ Child Society and was Chair of the Outreach Committee. A tireless volunteer she was a member of the Waterville Historical Society and was on the committee to secure capital funds to renovate the buildings, a member of Waterside Homeowners Association and a co-chair of the hot topics committee, and a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital where she drove the courtesy van and worked the desk and gift shop.
She will be remembered for being hopelessly devoted to her family and grandchildren. Holly never missed a sporting event or an important occasion. She loved to read, sitting on her patio or in her favorite chair. She was an overly generous, kind, warm soul who loved to spend time with her family and friends. Holly loved living on her lake and being near bodies of water and was a University of Michigan and Detroit Tigers fan.
Surviving are sons, Richard (Christy) and Robert (Rene) Schmidbauer; grandchildren, Athena (Joe), Mckenna (Nolan), Vaughn (Grace), Adam, Drew, Jake and Joey; great-grandchildren, Roman, Theodore, and Francis; sister, Nancy (Jim) Shaw; brother Bob Chapman; nephew, Jim (Joanna) Shaw; and niece Kytari Chapman.
Friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee on Wednesday September 7, 2022 from 3-7 pm with a Scripture Service at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will begin Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by the funeral mass at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, Maumee. Interment will follow in Wakeman Cemetery, Waterville. The family suggests memorials to Christ Child Society or St. Joseph Church. Condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com
