Herbert D. Sprouse, 86, of Northwood, Ohio and formerly of Graytown, Ohio died Saturday, February 27, 2010 in Parkcliffe of Northwood, Northwood. Herbert was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 30, 1923 to Leslie and Grace Gallagher Sprouse. He married Anna Marie Zacharias at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral, Toledo, OH on September 25, 1948 and she preceded him in death November 29, 1983. Herbert was a welder for Jeep Corp. on Willeys Parkway for 35 years retiring January 31, 1981. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was part of the Normandy invasion, earning the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars. He was a former member of the American Legion in Toledo. Herberts favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, and gardening. Survivors include his children, Thomas Sprouse of Oak Harbor, OH, Kathleen Babcock of Kettering, OH, Nancy Sprouse, Evanston, WY, Don Sprouse of Graytown, grandchildren, Heather Sprouse, Craig Sprouse, Mike Kayla Babcock, Steve Babcock, Stephen Sprouse, and Gina Leigh Neitz, and his brother, Leslie Barb Sprouse of Oak Harbor, OH. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother Bob Sprouse. Visitation for Herbert will be from 2-4 6-8 PM, on Thursday, March 4, 2010 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa, OH. A full Military graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM, on Friday, March 5, 2010 in the Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH.
