Henry James Shook, 82 of Walbridge, Ohio passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 from cancer at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born in Walbridge March 6, 1929 to Henry and Viola (Gast) Williams who died suddenly in a tragic accident along with his brother, James. Shortly after his birth, Hank was adopted by his aunt Ethel (Roland) Williams Shook of Stony Ridge. He graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1947 and went to work at Sun Oil in Toledo for 39 years before retiring in 1989. He was a private pilot who enjoyed boating and gardening. An avid football fan, Hank enjoyed serving as a football official for many years at many area high schools. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma (Tanberg) Shook; son, James Shook; daughter, Jacquelyn (Doug) Flenniken; grandchildren, Todd (Vicki) Wissinger, Jason and Lance Wissinger, Austin and Annabelle Cooper, Doug (Mary) Flenniken ; great grandchildren, Doug, Nicole, Jamie, Valarie and Jon Flenniken, Lydia (Drew) Mihalic and Nick Carpenter; 3 great-great grandchildren; cousin, Eloise (Herb) Arnold; son in law, Ken Cooper and his granddaughter in law, Cindy Flenniken. Hank was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Juliann Cooper as well as his grandson, David Flenniken. In honoring Hank’s wishes, there will be no visitation, however Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 11 A.M. in Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street in Walbridge, OH (419-666-3121) with Pastor Terry Smith, officiating. Burial will remain private.
