Henry Garn

Henry Marvin Garn aka “Hank”, born on June 13th, 1932 to Eleanor and Legarthus Garn in Toledo, Ohio lost his battle to Covid surrounded by family on February 18, 2021 and is now in the arms of Jesus. He was a 1951 graduate from Scott High School where he was chosen as an All-Scott Athlete, excelling in football, basketball and baseball. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served out of Norfolk Naval Air Station from 1952 until 1960. Hank worked several years with Owens Illinois in the Ink and Dye/Printing Products Division, where he retired and then went to work for Sun Chemical, Maumee, Ohio. Upon retiring from Sun Chemical, Hank had trouble sitting still and then went to for Meijer’s Maumee, retiring again after 20 years; then on to Fallen Timbers Golf Course as everyone’s favorite Ranger, and finally, Genesis Village where he just retired in December 2020. He was incredibly loved by his wife, Linda (Kosch) Garn for 39 years and his two children, Wendy (Russ) Rooker of Columbus, Ohio and James (Michelle) Richardson of Maumee. He was dearly loved and known as Papa to his grandkids, Jacob, Spencer, and Parker Richardson, and Roxy Mae Rooker who he proudly cheered on throughout their school sport’s careers. Hank was a member of Calvary Church, Maumee, Ohio, where he was a long-time Greeter and member of Senior Saints. The love and joy from Jesus was behind the smile that lit up his entire face. Hank lived by his favorite Bible verse, “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me”, Philippians 4:13. The family will have a private memorial later this year where he will be celebrated as a “good and faithful servant”.
