Helen Gene Baker Williams, of 2347 Manoa Lane, Toledo, age 78, passed away Wednesday, July 15 at home. Gene was born July 31, 1930, in Safford, Arizona, to Thomas Brooks Baker and Virginia Baker. She married Charles Chuck Williams in 1953 while both were students at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. She came to Toledo in 1985 and taught in the Toledo Public School system from 1985 to her retirement in 2000. Since retirement, Gene has been active with Habitat for Humanity, the Blair Museum of Lithophanes, Family Promise, and was an emeritus Docent for the Toledo Museum of Art. Gene is survived by her husband of 56 years, Chuck; three daughters: Sloan, Marcia and Dana and five grandchildren: Ruth, Dorian, David, Loren and Evan. Visitation will be at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. on Saturday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at Collingwood Presbyterian Church, 2103 Collingwood Boulevard, Toledo, on Tuesday, July 21st at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to one of the following: Collingwood Presbyterian Church, Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity or the Blair Museum of Lithophanes located in the Toledo Botanical Garden.
