Helen Shufritz, age 90, died peacefully after a short illness at Kingston Residence Perrysburg.
Helen, a lifelong resident of Rossford was born on July 20, 1931 in her family home where she lived for 89 years. She attended Rossford schools and graduated in 1949. She then was employed at the Lucas County Department of Health and Human Services for 30 years where she was a secretary.
Growing up Helen was the only girl with six brothers and spent much of her time helping her mother take care of her brothers whom she affectionately called “The Boys.” She loved animals and often spoke of her favorite family dog Stubby. In her Helen was well known throughout Rossford for her daily walks through town, always stopping to chat with anyone she knew. Helen loved reading and catching up on news but especially liked following her favorite sports teams, Ohio State, Cleveland Indians and her beloved Bulldogs. She often attended Rossford football games in her younger years and her home was filled with bulldogs of every kind.
Helen was kind and generous and mailed many many cards to family and acquaintances and faithfully supported her favorite organizations.
Helen was proceeded in death by her parents Peter Shufritz Sr and Mary Lisik Shufritz, brothers John, Mike, Peter Jr., Mike, Frank, Joseph and Jacob who passed away shortly after Helen. Also Nephew Richard. Helen is survived by Nieces and Nephews Steven (Nancy) Shufritz, Cindy (Gary) Aring, Mary (Chris) Covill and Lynn (Karl) Schultz, 10 great nieces and nephews and 18 great great nieces and nephews and special godson James Sallee.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Kingston Residence of Perrysburg Memory Care staff and administrators for their loving care of Helen while she resided there.
A joint visitation and short funeral service will be held for both Helen and Jacob at the Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home, Rossford on Friday, June 3, 2022 after 10 am where the service will follow at 11 am. Tributes can be made to the Anita Shufritz Scholarship Fund Care of Rossford High School or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
