Mrs. Helen Maa Konotey-Ahulu Sachs 1946-2024

Our beloved Helen Maa Kumaseyo Konotey-Ahulu Sachs of Odumase-Krobo, Ghana, passed away in Toledo, Ohio on August 8, 2024, leaving a void in our hearts that only God can fill.

She was the head and center of our family. She was a woman of great strength and immense faith.

Born in Odumase-Krobo, Ghana, she was the daughter of the renowned Reverend David Andrews Konotey-Ahulu and, Christiana Mamle Okleyo Konotey-Ahulu, a royal. Born into both royalty and a strong Christian home, she was raised with great love, which she passed on to her children, grandchildren and all those who loved her.

She poured her whole heart and everything she had into raising her three children, lovingly yet firmly guiding them, encouraging them to build a strong foundation of faith in God, and supporting them whole heartedly. She was a devout and proud grandmother and an absolutely amazing cook. Most of all, she loved God. She loved reading her Bible and singing or humming hymns. We will miss hearing her hum and sing.

She was lovingly known as Auntie Maa to many. Her kindness and generosity spread far beyond her family. She felt a special calling to help those less fortunate in Ghana. She had always wanted to start child evangelism in her hometown of Odumase, Krobo, furthering the work her mother started years ago. She found joy in lovingly supporting widows, orphans, and those less fortunate both within and outside her family. She fostered many people calling them “my adopted children” and adopted a young boy, Anetey, who together with her husband, raised him into a God-fearing young man. She also cherished her time spent with the women (known as the Group 6 Women) who gathered at her family home, “House of Peace,” for morning Bible Devotion. She encouraged them to maintain their devotion to God and each other. Throughout her life, she consistently put the needs of others before herself and fought fiercely for those she loved and for those less fortunate. She fought the good fight of faith and finished her race and now she is in her Loving God’s embrace.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Mr. Emil Martin Sachs, and three children, son, Rev. David N. Sackey and wife, Mrs. Jasmine Sackey; daughter, Mrs. Esther N. Donkor and husband, Dr. Daniel Donkor; son, Dr. Albert N. Sackey and wife, Mrs. Anna Sackey; stepson, Mr. Craig Sachs and wife, Mrs. Gabrielle Sachs and stepson, Mr. Eric Sachs and fiancée, Ms. April Neilson. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, David Nii Adzin Sackey, Christa Naa Larteley Sackey, Danielle Christine O. A. Donkor, Albert Konotey Nii Adjin Sackey, Skye Korkor O. Sackey, Rachel Renee M. O. Donkor, Andrew Joshua A. Donkor, Phoebe Naa Lartiokor Sackey, and Sahara Naa Lartiokor Sackey and many others who loved her dearly.

Memorial services are scheduled for September 14, 2024 at Riverdale Presbyterian Church in Riverdale NY and Christ Revealed International Church in Richardson, TX on November 2, 2024.

Vigil, Funeral & Burial services, and Thanksgiving service will be held in Accra and Odumase (Ghana) respectively on November 15-17, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Revealed International Church; Jesus Heals Miracle Campaign, to continue the beautiful work she has started, helping those less fortunate. This will be greatly appreciated. Website: Davidsackey.org
