Helen Polakowski

Helen Polakowski, age 95 of Northwood, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Maumee Pointe. She was born February 23, 1928 to Nicholas and Mary (Bonyo) Fetchik in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where she also grew up. Helen married Felix “Phil” Polakowski on April 29, 1950 before the couple moved to Ohio and started their family.

Helen was an avid reader who also enjoyed word searches and jigsaw puzzles. She will be remembered fondly and missed for her quiet and gentle nature.

Helen is survived by her daughter Dawn (John) Horvat, grandson John (Britney King) Horvat, and great-grandson Harrison. She is preceded in death by her husband Felix “Phil” Polakowski, son David Polakowski, and 13 brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Maumee Pointe for their compassionate care, as well as a special thank you to the ladies that befriended her and made her feel welcome in her new home.

Interment for Helen will be private.
