Helen Louise Moore, 90, of Oak Harbor died peacefully at Stein Hospice in Sandusky on July 7th. Helen was born in 1920 in Oak Harbor to the now deceased Harmon and Rose Hasenmeier Schultz. She was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School. On November 6, 1943 she married Richard Moore, he precedes her in death. Helen and Richard worked day after day together building Moore Orchards until their retirement in 1999. During her life she served many years as a Sunday school teacher at St. John Lutheran Church, was a member of Altar Guild and spent countless hours making the salesroom at Moore Orchards a unique place to visit. Helen was the one responsible for the perfect apples that rolled across the grader for their many customers to enjoy. Her wit, voice, humor and never-ending energy will be remembered by many that worked alongside her throughout the years. Helen and Richard also enjoyed traveling all over and taking time to visit with friends and Army buddies in their travels. Helen especially enjoyed her many grandchildren throughout their childhood years, mowing lawn, shopping and baking her famous apple pies. She will be greatly missed by friends and family. Survivors include: son Jim Donna Moore; daughters Annette Holcomb and Carol Mike Benner; and daughter-in-law Karla Moore. Grandchildren include: KellyAaron Hemminger; Sara Mike Shanteau; Aaron Leslie Moore; Chris Moore, Jason Moore, Matt Moore; Nathan Holcomb; Melissa Justin LaPrade; Angela Benner; Ashley Benner and Alison Benner. Great Grandchildren include: Amber and Katlyn LaPrade; Sophia Hannen; Nikales and MacKenzie Shanteau; and Auden Hemminger. Sister: Florentine Wheeler. Helen is preceded in death by her husband or 62 years, Richard; son, Steven T. Moore; sisters: Dorothy Guntsch; Leona Sahloff; Martha Heller and brothers: Richard and Carly Schultz. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor with visitation 1 hour prior at the church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Stein Hospice of Sandusky or St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church Window Replacement Fund or the Doris Mylander Scholarship Fund.
