Mrs. Helen C. Luebbe was born on October 28, 1916 in Cincinnati, OH to Helen and Edward Weber. She graduated from Seton High School. After high school, she worked at Nadlers Department Store where she met her future husband. She married the love of her life Joseph H. Luebbe, Jr. on January 6, 1944 at Bowman Field in Louisville, Kentucky where Joseph was stationed in the United States Army Air Force. Joseph was President of Beltone Hearing Aid Company until his death in November 1963. Helen often commented on their 19 wonderful years together. Helen expressed her deep compassion for people while assisting in Daniel J. Radecki, M.D.s office for over 25 years. She optimized his medical records and billing systems. His patients affection for her took the form of many cakes and kielbasa. Helen was deeply committed to her Catholic faith and Gesu Church. She was a charter member of St. Joseph Auxiliary: Little Sisters of the Poor, Secretary of St. Catherine Sodality, President of the Ursuline Scholarship, and board member of St. Ursula Academy, where her three daughters attended school. She was also active in Gesu Mothers Club and Gesu Sodality. Helen loved flowers and gardening and as a result her daughters and granddaughters continue this tradition. Even now, a plant from Josephs funeral has been carefully propagated and is currently living in each of her daughters and granddaughters home. Helen loved bridge and played in many bridge marathons. She also hosted weekly bridge games in her home. Helen was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. In her kitchen, the game was always on. She had several special recipes including chili, goetta, and Mexican wedding cookies. And she loved a nip of Canadian Mist, multi-colored Christmas lights, the Guiding Light, and cardinal birds. Helen had many friends, a fun-loving personality and a remarkably good sense of humor. She was always laughing, a trait that she passed on to her three daughters. She was crazy about her great grandchildren, Griffin Best and Adrienne Byars. Griffin and Adrienne were crazy about her, too. Surviving are her daughters, Chey Archie Call of Maumee, OH, Jane Jeff Weasel of Maumee, OH, Jill Ron Mickel, of Perrysburg, OH and grandchildren Dr. Helen Mabry Andrew Byars of Maumee, OH, Libbey Mike Best of Ottawa Hills, OH, and Charles J. Mabry III of Gulfport, FL. Helens family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and aides who contributed to her extraordinarily long life. Services will be held at Gesu church on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. Visitation will take place at Gesu church from 10am-11am. Helens nephew, Fr. Edward Littelman, will preside at the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 AM on Tuesday. Contributions in memory of Helen may be made to Gesu Church or Little Sisters of the Poor.
