Helen Lesage

Helen Lesage, 97 passed away peacefully with her son James at her side on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Howell Michigan. Helen was born July 7, 1917 to Joseph and Katherine Makra. A graduate of Clay High School, Helen married Albert J. Lesage on April 6, 1945, and they raised three children. Albert preceded her in death in 1980. She was a resident of west Toledo for many years, worked as a legal secretary, loved baking cookies for the holidays and spending time with her family. She was also active in the Gold Star Wives organization. Helen is survived by her sons Robert (Kathy Zachel) of Brighton, MI and James (Mary Ellen Taylor) residents of Toledo and San Marcos, TX; her daughter Darlene (Jeff Boosted) of St. Ignatius, MT and granddaughter Rachel of New York, NY. She was also preceded in death by her brother Andy Makra. The family would like to thank Kathy Zachel and the staff of Ashley Court of Brighton, MI for their excellent care of Helen in recent years. Friends may call on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. in the Neville Funeral Home, Reynolds Corners Chapel, 5052 Dorr St., Toledo, Ohio 43615 (419-535-0951) where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. following the visitation. Burial will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Toledo. Helen was a long time member of Monroe Street Methodist United Church and the family requests any expressions of sympathy be made to the church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
