Helen H. Kerschner

November 22, 1924 — October 24, 2013

Helen H. Kerschner, age 88, of Toledo, has gone home to be with her Lord on October 24, 2013. She was born November 22, 1924 in St. Marys, Ohio to the late Charles and Mary Fowler Niles. Helen was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, William E. Kerschner; and sisters, Beatrice Lippold and Dorothy Reeve. Helen was a 1942 graduate of Scott High School, participating in many student organizations. She was secretary for 26 years, retiring in 1998 from Hill View Elementary School, a job she thoroughly enjoyed in which she was well loved. Helen had previously been employed as an executive secretary at Toledo Trust for 10 years. She was a longtime member of Christ Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, member of numerous Bible studies including BSF, chapel service greeter, and active member of the prayer team. She was a member of Brandywine Country Club and enjoyed golfing with her friends and family. Helen also enjoyed working with children, including reading and serving as Girl Scout leader. Her family was always her first priority and loved spending time with them on family vacations. Helen had many friends and acquaintances, was well loved and demonstrated a genuine interest in others. She will be lovingly remembered for the joyful smile, she shared with everyone. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Paul Betsy Kerschner and Christine George Veronie; nieces, Judy France and Sue Tom Hetzel; nephews, Doug Roz Reeve and Randy Zimmerman; and sister-in-law, Olga Zimmerman. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd.. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 4225 Sylvania Ave. Private interment will be at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Christ Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or a charity of the donors choice.
