Helen Clare (Strahler) Casale, 89, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Fostoria Community Hospital in Fostoria, Ohio. She was born on June 20, 1935 on a farm near McConnelsville, Ohio, the youngest of 7 children born to Frank and Emma (O’Linn) Strahler. She married Michael J. Casale on June 18, 1960 at St. James Catholic Church in McConnelsville and he preceded her in death on October 18, 2003.
Helen graduated from Malta-McConnelsville High School in 1952 and furthered her studies at Good Samaritan School of Nursing where she graduated in 1955. She then went to work at Good Samaritan, St. Joseph in Stockton, California and Ohio State University.
She spent three years in Youngstown, Ohio where her husband did his residency in OB-GYN, and spent two years with her husband and children at Wheelers Air Base in Tripoli, Lybia. In 1965 they moved to Warren, Ohio where her husband practiced OB-GYN for thirty years.
Most important in her life was caring for her family, but she was active in St. Pius X church activities, Trumbull Co. Medical Auxiliary, Mobile Meals, and served on the Board of Catholic Charities of the Youngstown Diocese.
In 1995 when her husband retired, they moved to enjoy “Life on the Lake”. She became a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton where she served faithfully on the funeral luncheon committee.
Survivors include her son: Michael (Beth) Casale, son: Anthony (Susan) Casale, daughter: Therese (Craig) Tyson, and son, Christopher Casale; her beloved grandchildren, Emily & Meschach Keen, Joseph & Casey Everett, Angie Casale, Anthony & Kristin Casale, Megan & Henry Kunze, Michael Casale & Haily Tyson; great grandchildren, Addison Everett & Brooks Everett. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter-in-law, Michele Casale and siblings, Paul (Margaret) Strahler, Rob (Phoebe) Strahler, Norb (Jean) Strahler, Mary (Vern) Rybski, Monica (Bill) Grossman, and Gene (Phyllis) Strahler.
Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 4 pm until a rosary service at 7:30 pm. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 8:30 am until Prayers at 9:15 am followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton. Burial will follow at Catawba Island Cemetery.
