Helen R. Cain

Helen Ruth Cain, age 97 of Swanton, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Swanton Health Care and Retirement Center. She was born April 7, 1915 in Moundsville, West Virginia to Charles W. and Harriett (Ellis) Price and on September 2, 1933 she married Friend W. Cain who preceded her in death on May 22, 2001 after 67 years of marriage. Helen attended the University of Toledo and became a Teacher at Larc Lane, a school for special needs children, for 18 years before retiring in 1979. They moved to Florida where they lived for 22 years before moving back to Maumee in 2001 and to Swanton in 2004. Helen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Swanton. She was an avid reader and loved music, puzzles, crossword and was an accomplished pianist as well. She was a perfect mother who raised 4 children. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Gisela) Cain of Swanton, OH; daughters, Mary Ellen (James) Mason of Mears, MI and Linda (John) Slaninka of Swanton, OH; grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, Susan, Elizabeth, Russell, Natalie, Andrew, Julia and Jill as well as 16 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Friend “Bob” R. Cain as well as her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Cain. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 4-7 P.M. in Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway in Holland (419-865-8879) where funeral services will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 10:30 A.M.
