Helen Anson

Helen Lois Anson, 89, of Monclova, OH and formerly of Oak Harbor, OH and Maumee, OH passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022 at McLaren St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee, OH.  She was born on May 11, 1932 in New London, CT to Ralph and Angeline (Cusano) Gorton.  On May 1, 1981 in Oak Harbor, OH she married Kenneth L. Anson, and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2003.  Helen worked as a dental assistant with Dr. Donald Zimmerman, D.D.S. in Oak Harbor for 25 years before retiring.  She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, and a member of the Altar Guild at the church.  Helen was also a past member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon for 45 years.  She really enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and dancing.

Helen is survived by her son, Richard (Lori) Green, daughter, Sue (Tom) McCloskey, step-son, Kenneth (Cindi) Anson, Jr., step-daughter, Joan Breneman, grandchildren, Melissa Green and Matthew Green, brother, George Gorton, sisters-in-law, Shirley Gorton and Wendy Gorton, very special cousin, Melody (Frank) Bellrose, nieces & nephews, and her special friends, Mary Nagel (who always called her Mom!) and Marilyn Ford, one of her “housemates” at Otterbein will remain in her heart forever.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Ralph Gorton, Jr. and Robert Gorton, son-in-law, Donald Breneman, and special uncles, Tony Ciampa and John Ciampa.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, where visitation will be held two hours prior to the services from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.  Memorial contributions in memory of Helen may be given to St. John Ev.
