Heather Isobel Elliot passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 24th, 2017 at her Toledo home after a full and happy 94 years. Heather was born June 9, 1923 in Vineland, Ontario, Canada to the late William and Helen (Mason) Park. Both parents were recent immigrants from Scotland and Heather was always proud of her Scottish heritage. She had an interesting and happy childhood on the family fruit farm. Heather attended Wellesley School of Nursing, graduating with her RN. While working at Toronto General Hospital she met the love of her life, Eric Elliot. They had a wonderful marriage, the two were true soul mates. Heather was adventurous and a fantastic athlete, playing shortstop on the all-boys team in high school. She was an avid golfer winning numerous trophies and achieving two holes in one. At 16 years of age she flew in an open plane over Lake Ontario with Canada’s youngest woman aviator. Heather loved gardening, cultivating many beautiful roses, always with a four legged friend close by. Golf was for the summer months and Bridge with friends was for the winter months. She was well read, had a keen intellect all of her life, and will be lovingly remembered for her selfless, giving nature. Heather traversed Canada starting in Toronto, Ontario, moving to Earl Grey, Saskatchewan, then Kerrobert, Saskatchewan and finally Edmonton, Alberta. Through all the moves in the early years Heather was the rock of the family. Following the years in Edmonton, two more major moves occurred, it was on to Silver Spring, Maryland and retirement in Maumee, Ohio. She is survived by her children, Wendy (George) Hamilton, Susan (Drew) Flechsig, and Ian (Susan) Elliot; grandchildren, Sean (Nina) Elliot, Christina (Joseph IV) Frankel, Katelyn (David) Cerasuolo, James (Kellie) Hamilton, Thomas and Allison Flechsig; and great grandchildren, Sam and Mae Elliot and Landon Hamilton. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Eric; and brother, Robin Park. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1 Trinity Place, Toledo, OH 43604. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Heathers name are suggested to the ASPCA, Habitat for Humanity or Cherry Street Mission. walkerfuneralhomes.com
