Hazel A. Zenser, 87, of Oak Harbor, OH died peacefully on the morning of April 27, 2009 in the Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. She was born on December 17, 1921 in Oak Harbor, OH to Harmon and Edith Dehring Goetz. On January 2, 1942 in Oak Harbor, OH she married Vernon S. Zenser, and he survives. They were high school sweethearts and enjoyed a life together on the farm. After receiving a business degree, she worked for several years at Dunn Bradstreet in Toledo. Later she concentrated on being a housewife and mother. Hazel was a lifelong member and taught Sunday school for many years at St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Oak Harbor where she was also was a member of the Evening Guild. She belonged to a local womens group known as The PM Club for over 50 years; was a member of the Eastern Star, and the Port Clinton Artist Club. Hazel even worked a few years for the Ottawa County Exponent collecting ads. Other than her family, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, bowling, fishing, golfing, and painting. Hazel was a kind and loving person and is survived by her husband: Vernon; daughter: Sandy Zenser both of Oak Harbor; son: Dr. Terry Barb Zenser; grandsons: Dr. Nathan T. Kristen Zenser and Jason V. Angie Zenser; great grandchildren: Evelyn Opper, Maxwell Opper, Miles Opper, and Oscar Zenser, and Anthony Zenser all of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Art, Wilton, and Lester Goetz. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2009 at St. Pauls United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. Visitation will be Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 2-8p.m., with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Pauls United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor or to a charity of the donors choice.
