Hazel J Hayden

Hazel J. Hayden of Perrysburg, OH passed away peacefully on July 6th at the age of 88. She was born on December 12, 1924 to Neil and Agnes Wallace in Detroit, MI. She graduated from Redford High School in Detroit and Dennison University in Granville, OH. On July 7, 1945, Hazel married Jack Hayden of Detroit. They raised three children – Mike, Wendy, and Mary. Hazel loved reading, sewing, and knitting. In the last several years she crocheted several hundred sets of hats and scarves that she donated to the needy. Her handmade crafts were sold around the world. She loved visiting with friends and was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Perrysburg. Hazel is survived by her sister, Sandi Loree of Bartlett, TN, her son, Michael(Pat) of Perrysburg, and her daughter, Mary(David) Warga of Champaign, IL; grandchildren, Andrew Hayden, Audrey Russell, Anne Hayden, Amy Ferrell, Tim Sellers, Loralee O’Malley, Brandon Warga, Jon Warga, and Lisa Schoonover. She adored her 11 great grandchildren. Her loving family also included her step-grandchildren Drew, Jeff, and Wes Crane and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her daughter, Wendy, and her best friend, Jane Hess. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13th at 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church in Perrysburg. A private burial will be at a later date in Oberlin, OH. Memorial contributions may be offered in Hazel’s honor to the First Presbyterian Church in Perrysburg. Arrangements were entrusted Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133).
