Harry W. Mylander, 73, of Lindsey, died at his home surrounded by family on Friday morning, August 31, 2018. Harry was born June 28, 1945, in Oak Harbor, Ohio, to Walter and Elsie (Bearns) Mylander. On December 1, 1973 he married his wife, Gladys “Chris” Wetoskey. Harry was a 1963 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and served in the United States Marine Corps. Harry was a dedicated and hardworking small business owner and farmer. Along with his partner, Mike Vanclay, he founded the construction company, Unilliance, Inc., which he owned and operated for fifty years. He enjoyed the complexity and challenges of the work, as well as operating heavy machinery. Harry was fair and honest in his dealing with others and he cared about his employees; many of them became “family.” Harry grew up on a dairy farm, and while agriculture changed a lot from when he was a boy, he maintained a deep connection to the land; it was important to him to preserve the legacy of the family farm and pass it on to his sons. He had a small collection of antique tractors and even after he lost the ability to walk, Harry could be seen regularly cruising the fields in his side-by-side with his beloved Springer Spaniel, “Pup”. In addition to Chris, his wife of 44 years, he is survived by his sons Travis and Russ Mylander, granddaughter Margaret Folkerth Mylander, sister Nancy (Jim) Jackson, as well as several nieces and nephews. His parents, brother Calvin Mylander, and sister Margaret Geiger, preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Robinson -Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St. in Oak Harbor, with visitation one hour prior from 10-11 a.m. Following the service, a lunch and celebration of his life will be held at 1300 Co. Rd. 153, Oak Harbor. Memorial donations for Harry can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belford Rd. Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 (www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate) or Stein Hospice, 1200 N. Sycamore Line Rd., Sandusky, OH 44870.
