Bill Wahlers

April 22, 1928 — August 31, 2021

Harold William Wahlers II, at 93 years young, went to be with the Lord on August 31st. Bill, as he was known to his family and friends, in June celebrated his 68th wedding anniversary with the love of his life, Lee Wahlers. Bill and Lee met at Ohio University, where Bill graduated with a business degree. Prior to college Bill served two years in the U.S. Army. While in college he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, and during this time signed with the Cleveland Indians where he played two seasons with the farm team. Bill grew up in Danbury Township with his parents Pete and Pauline (Sorensen) Wahlers, and brother Eddie. His family was one of the first original families of Ottawa County. Bill worked for New Departure for 35 years. Bill was known for his joyful attitude, ornery demeanor, and his big smile. He loved life, his family, and the Lord. Bill was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal church. He also served his community through the Elks Club, Danbury School Board, and Athletic Boosters. Bill enjoyed golfing and was a ranger for a number of years. Bill leaves a lifetime of wonderful memories for all those who knew him and a legacy for his family to carry on. His family feels grateful for all the stories to share for generations to come. Bill loved his family with his whole heart and a big smile and is survived by his wife Lee; daughters, Kim (Lyndon) Coffey and Lynn (Mike) Uhinck; son, Hal (Beth) Wahlers; 9 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. They have stories to laugh at, lessons to remember, and his amazing example to always follow. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or services at this time due to the pandemic. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held sometime in the summer of 2022. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 214 E. 2nd Street, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452 or to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 Online condolences may be expressed at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
