Harold Eugene Payne, Jr.

Harold Eugene Payne, Jr., 83, of Catawba Island, Ohio, passed away Friday, December 14, 2007, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. Gene was born August 19, 1924, in Michigan to Harold Eugene and Gertrude Gibbs Payne. On December 14, 1946, in Napoleon, Ohio, he married Jacqueline Fernee and she preceded him in death February 4, 2007. Gene was an active member of Firelands Presbyterian Church, Port Clinton. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army serving during World War II. . Survivors include: daughters, Barbara Fred Cammann of Huron, OH, Jeanne John Harvey of Bloomington, IN, Cheri Sandrock of Columbus, OH; 5 Grandchildren, Troy McHenry, Todd McHenry, Courtney Payne-Taylor, Jessica Sandrock, and Jordan Sandrock; 2 great-grandchildren, Mia McHenry and Carley Sandrock; sister, Jacqueline Fisher, and brother, William Payne. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jacqueline, and sisters, Patricia Lumley and Roberta Payne. Memorial services will be conducted at Firelands Presbyterian Church, Port Clinton, and will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Gene may be given to Stein Hospice of Sandusky, OH. Arrangements are being handled by the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, Port Clinton.
