Harold Fred Maurer

Harold Frederick Maurer, age 71, of Waterville, Ohio passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on February 2, 1942 to Harold and Irene Szima Maurer in Dayton, Ohio. Fred met his wife of 46 years, Marilyn, while attending the University of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed coaching at St. Joseph School and the Maumee summer softball league; watching his children play sports and later cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Fred loved animals and was always rescuing a new member of the family. He and Marilyn liked to travel in their RV, but his real joy was his family. Fred is survived by his wife, Marilyn DeFillippo; daughter, Marissa Vinny Spera Maurer; daughter, Paula Tom Feyerabend; daughter, Ren Mike Willett Maurer; daughter, Francine Maurer; son Erick Maurer; daughter, Andra Maurer and 8 grandchildren. Also surviving are his mother, Irene Maurer and brother, Jim Maurer. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Maurer. Friends and family may visit at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 Broadway Street, Maumee, Ohio.
