Harold Hassan

January 30, 1923 — November 3, 2015

Harold F. Hassen passed peacefully into the hereafter on November 3, 2015 at the age of 92. He was born January 30, 1923 to Harvey and Mary (Bick) Hassen on a farm in Richfield Township. He was raised there until entering the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Although he was offered a medical discharge, he chose to remain deployed until the end of the war. After returning home, he married Lillian E. Langenderfer on May 21, 1949. Harold worked at a variety of jobs until settling down at L-O-F. He made lifelong friends there as well as on the golf course. He always took an interest in people and seemed to remember everyone he met. No matter where he went, he would run into someone he knew. He often recalled stories from decades ago of neighbors and families from the area. Harold is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lillian; sons, Richard (Margo, deceased) of Nebraska; Robert (Judy Marchal) of Swanton; Russell (Linda Rumpf of Toledo; and daughters Barbara (Cuyler Murphy) of Alabama and Pamela (Michael Beyer) of Maumee. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim (Norma Iffland) and Romain Doc (Alice Snyder); twin sister, Helen (Robert) Murnan; niece, Katherine and grandson Lucas. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to St. Clare Commons in Perrysburg for the personalized care they gave to our dad during his stay there. Our thanks are extended as well to Southern Care Hospice for making dad comfortable in his last few days. Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio with a scripture service to be held at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee, Ohio. Interment will be in St Marys Cemetery in Assumption, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 W. Broadway Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537.
