Hairston Bud Allen, age 89 of Point Place, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Bud was born January 19, 1923 in Morrilton, AK to Hiram and Dee Allan. He served 3 years in the US Army Air Force during WWII as an aircraft mechanic and kept the planes flying in both England and Italy. He was a longtime member of VFW Post #3265 in Point Place. Bud worked for Davis Tool and Engineering as a quality control foreman for 35 years. He was a member of Point Place Church of Christ. Bud had chosen in May to spend his remaining months of life in Hospice Home Care. Friday morning he talked with his daughter, who had arrived from Omaha, his son and his wife for over an hour before passing peacefully. A family memorial service was held on Saturday at the Walker Funeral Home, 419.841.2422. Darryl and Gail remembered their father- We learned our values by the example dad set every day, seventy years married to our mother, a 35 year career of perfect attendance with his employer and complete honesty with everyone. Bud is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Gail Sue Edmonds Rob of Omaha, NE and Darryl F. Allen Sharon of Toledo; sister, Lorene McConnel; grandchildren, Richard, James Renee, Michael Kathryn, Sean Ann, Mae Steve, Ben, and Christopher; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Hurston Allen and sisters, Gussie Tharp and Annie Lee Culberson. The family wishes to thank all of his neighbors at Harborside Condominiums, especially Carol; the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially his nurse Diane; and the Guardian Angels, especially Desirae and Ali.
