H. Richard Kelly

April 15, 1927 — November 27, 2018

Dick Kelly passed away on November 27, 2018 at the age of 91. He was born April 15, 1927 in Champaign Illinois, to Oliver Harmon Kelly and Mary Tomlinson Kelly. He was a WWII and Korean War veteran serving in the Navy and the Air Force. Dick repeatedly stated that his service to country was mostly one sided giving him far more than he ever gave in return. He cherished gatherings with family and friends, usually acting as the organizer. His eighteen years on Maumees school board, with two terms as president, and his long service to dental patients were very satisfying. Golf, movies, and sports viewing were particularly enjoyable and relaxing for Dick. When attending dental school in Chicago he met a lovely and lively Northwestern University girl, Shirley Jean Schrader. They soon fell in love and were married June 20, 1952 at St. Pauls Episcopal Church. After a few travels and adventures the new couple nestled into life in Maumee, Ohio to continue his dental career and start a family. Dick was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; father, Harmon; wife, Shirley; siblings, Patricia, Charles and Larry. He is survived by his son, Scott (Melissa) Kelly; and daughters Lisa Kelly, and Marcia (Eric) Mandly; grandchildren, Lindsey Lutman, Bryan Lutman, Elizabeth Mandly, Caroline Mandly, Erin Kelly, Julia Kelly, and Kathryn Mandly. Visitation will be held at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee on December 27 from 3-8 P.M. Memorial Services will be at 2 P.M. December 28 at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Maumee. The Family suggests tributes to St. Pauls Episcopal or the Toledo Zoo. Online Condolences may be made at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com
